Our History

American Hospital, Inc. was founded in 1955 by Dwight, Dill M.D., who served as its first Medical Director.

The clinic was conceived to cater to the medical needs of the Filipino people, specifically the working class, which included U.S. immigrant applicants, seafarers, and missionaries. It was designed to conduct medical examinations using procedures such as Physical Check-Ups, X-rays, Psychological Tests, and Laboratory Examinations in order to determine an applicant’s physical capability to work.

1978

Dwight, Dill M.D. retired and the clinic was sold to his Associate, Leticia C. Abesamis, M.D. Since then, the clinic began to extend its services to better serve working class applicants as well as to accommodate both U.S. immigrant visa applicants and laymen. It received constant referrals from the U.S. Department of Labor for Employment’s Compensation Disability and Impediment pay, and was accredited by the Overseas Employment Development Board (OEDB), which is now known as the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

Recent trends and methods in medicine were adopted by the clinic, and Shipping Lines began to refer repatriated cases due to medical grounds.
